The focus of this training module is how to conduct an internal review of pupil premium provision in your own setting. During the video, we share a seven-step process for evaluating the provision for disadvantaged pupils. We explain how to use data to inform areas to investigate and how the funnel approach can be used to identify pupils to sample. We consider what is important when reviewing the school's pupil premium strategy.. This training module has been designed for staff with responsibility for disadvantaged pupils in school, or any members of staff interested in reviewing the school's pupil premium provision. It will take approximately 45 minutes to complete.

How to review EAL provision
The focus of this training module is how to conduct an internal review of the provision for learners with English as an additional language in your own setting. During the video, we set out the scope of the review and share a seven-step process for evaluating the provision for learners with EAL. We also consider why it is important to be aware of any cognitive biases the reviewer or staff may have towards children with EAL and how this might affect the provision in school. This training module has been designed for staff with an interest in or responsibility for learners in a primary school who have English as an additional language. The video lasts just under 25 minutes, but may take up to 40 minutes if you complete all the reflection tasks.

During the video, we set out the scope of the review and share a nine-step process for evaluating the provision for learners who are in care or have been looked after. We also consider the role of the designated teacher and how case studies can be used to deep dive into the school's provision to check that children in care are well supported and succeeding academically and personally. This training module has been designed for staff with an interest in or responsibility for children in care or those who were previously looked after. The video is 26 minutes long, but may take up to 45 minutes if you complete all the reflection tasks.

Disadvantaged pupils can succeed in school, but it is vital we understand their individual circumstances and intervene as early as possible. We examine the importance of building pupils' self-efficacy to ensure a positive response when learning is difficult. We recommend this training module for all teaching and pastoral staff, especially those with a specific responsibility for disadvantaged pupils, and is likely to take about an hour to complete.

Closing attainment gaps: Part 2 Strategies for English and maths
In part 2 of our 'closing attainment gaps' series, we share a range of strategies staff can use to help close the attainment gaps between underachieving pupils and their peers, especially those that are disadvantaged. As oral language development underpins many issues pupils face with English and maths difficulties, we explore the importance of purposeful talk and the need to develop academic language. This is followed by reading, writing, spelling and maths strategies and interventions you could consider. We would recommend this training module for all teaching staff as well as SENCOs and those responsible for supporting disadvantaged pupils. It is likely to take around an hour to complete.

We consider the barriers of terminology when working with 'hard-to-reach' parents and explore practical strategies to encourage engagement between school and home. Finally we share a school communication plan and what you should include in a school communications policy. This training module is suitable for all staff who come into contact with parents. We anticipate it will take 45 minutes to complete, depending upon the time you allocate to carry out the activities and discussions.
