Ofsted’s subject report about English.
In this session we consider the outcomes of Ofsted’s subject review about English.
Sir Martyn Oliver, Ofsted’s chief inspector, said “the focus on teaching phonics meant more pupils are leaving primary school able to read,” but “there is more work to be done to improve children’s writing and language comprehension.”
We will share the common strengths and weaknesses of English that Ofsted have seen in schools across the country to help you reflect on your own reading, writing and language curriculum.
During the event we will share the recommendations for ways that school and subject leaders can further improve their English curriculum.
This event is suitable for English subject leaders and teaching staff who have an interest in delivering effective English lessons.
